Measurements

Solar radiation heats the Earth's surface and atmosphere, and is very important for determining the Earth's climate. Cloud cover and air pollution affect the amount of solar radiation that reaches the ground. A pyranometer measures the amount of radiation. Sunshine duration is derived from these measurements.
